THE CHALLENGE

A food processor client contacted us with a big problem: a keyway in a shaft on their equipment was cut incorrectly, rendering it unusable in production. Since the shaft was a custom component, simply replacing it and cutting a new keyway was cost-prohibitive.

INSIGHT

We knew that by plating the keyway with electroless nickel, we could restore it to the correct specs at a relatively minor cost to the client.

DELIVERY

The NAEN team built up the floor and walls of the keyway by .010” with electroless nickel, creating the correct fit and preventing future corrosion. From the time we received the component, it was back on their production floor in less than one week, saving the client from months of downtime and a major less of revenue. Our client could not have been happier with NAEN.
